A technique for extrapolating absorption coefficient measurements to high temperatures
نویسندگان
چکیده
An extrapolation technique that provides semi-quantitative estimates for the infrared absorption coefficients of gaseous fuels at temperatures beyond those for which measurements are generally practical (>700 K) is presented. The new method is based on a simplified expression for molecular line intensities consisting of three fitting parameters and two variables (temperature and frequency). The accuracy of the extrapolations was tested first by comparing predictions of absorption coefficients for CO, CO2, and H2O vapor to the corresponding values obtained directly from the HITEMP molecular database. Finally, to establish the practical utility of the method, the spectrum of propane at 1000 K obtained from the extrapolation technique was compared to actual experimental measurements. 2004 The Combustion Institute. Synthesis of TiO2-ZnO-ZrO2 Nanocomposites for Nonlinear Optics Applications
A sol-gel technique under ultrasonic irradiation was applied to synthesize ZrO2/TiO2/ZnOnanocomposites. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the successful synthesis of nanocomposites. The strain and crystalline size values of ZrO2/TiO2/ZnO nanocomposites are estimated to be 9.98×10-4 and 17.66 nm, respectively. The linear absorption coefficient of ZrO2/TiO2/ZnO nanocomposites was measure...
متن کاملContinuous wave cavity ring down spectroscopy measurements of velocity distribution functions of argon ions in a helicon plasma.
We report continuous wave cavity ring down spectroscopy (CW-CRDS) measurements of ion velocity distribution functions (VDFs) in low pressure argon helicon plasma (magnetic field strength of 600 G, T(e) ≈ 4 eV and n ≈ 5 × 10(11) cm(-3)). Laser induced fluorescence (LIF) is routinely used to measure VDFs of argon ions, argon neutrals, helium neutrals, and xenon ions in helicon sources. Here, we d...
متن کاملGROWTH OF ZnS SINGLE CRYSTALS BY CVT TECHNIQUE UNDER DIFFERENT MASS TRANSPORT STABILITY CONDITIONS
Abstract: A thermodynamic model was used to find out the optimum temperature for the growth of ZnS single crystals in closed ampoules by chemical vapor transport technique. Based on this model 1002 °C was found to be optimum temperature for 2 mg/cm3 concentration of transporting agent (iodine). ZnS Crystals were grown in optimum (1002 °C) and non-optimum (902 °C and 1102 °C) temperatures. The c...
متن کاملOptical constants of ice from the ultraviolet to the microwave: A revised compilation
[1] A compilation of the spectral absorption coefficient of ice Ih is presented for temperatures near the melting point, superseding the compilation of Warren (1984). Significant changes are made to nearly all spectral regions. The blue and near-ultraviolet absorption is much weaker than the prior estimates, which were already very small. The near-infrared absorption coefficient differs by as m...
